sailors who used its dark facade for navigation. The temple’s
magnetic powers are believed to have drawn ships to the shore.
✱ The temple was destroyed by Kalapahad (Kalapahad was the
title given to a Muslim governor Sultan Sulaiman Karrani of
Bengal) who invaded Orissa in 1508. He had also destroyed
many other Hindu temples in Orissa along with the Konark Sun Temple.
✱ Konark Sun Temple also know as ‘Arka Kshetra’& Padma Kshetra.
✱ It is the famous southern Odisha religious spot is where the twin sister Goddess, i.e. Tara and Tarini.
✱ Tara Tarini Temple is an Adi Shakti Hindu temple on the Kumari hills at the bank of the River Rushikulya.
